Kerala CM, V.S Achuthanadan that india's free trade agreement with Association of South East Asian Nations allowing duty-free import of agriculture and marine products, among other goods from 2010, will result in crisis for the agriculture sector in kerala.
He said that about 50 lakh Above poverty line (APL) card holders will be negated from public distribution system if the National level food security law was implemented.
Common INDIAN say...
- Its a political advantage that CPI wants to take after the miserable failure in election. - Imports from under-developed nation can be encouraged when the nation is suffering from drought conditions. This will not trouble the agriculture sector of kerala. - Government needs to verify the economic conditions of all the APL card holders and revise the Public distribution system. We find that the privileged section of the society which is richer is making good use of the APL cards.
